Tips for Test Driving & Checking a Used Car
So you are in the market for your next used car and the good news is, you are in the right place! However, we know that test driving and checking a car can be confusing and overwhelming, so we have put together our tips that you can take with you on your way!
Firstly, you want to make sure that the dealership is reputable, so if you’re heading somewhere that isn’t Car Synergy, just check them out beforehand.
Exterior
You will want to check that the exterior and bodywork on the car is in good nick, and that there aren’t any glaring problems staring at you. While used cars are subject to a little wear and tear, you still want the car to feel new to you. Look any the alloys, wheel arches and rear or the car for any tell tale signs of bumps and scuffs, and enquire about these if they are visible.
Interior
Again, wear and tear do come into the equation but it doesn’t mean you are setting yourself up for crisp crumbs and drinks stains. Check the interior of the car and make sure it is clean and tidy, as well as keeping your eyes peeled for any tears or marks on or in the fabric of the seats.
Service History
Has the car got a full service history and can you see it? Look for this and make sure that the car has been taken care of. Particularly if you are looking at an older vehicle with higher mileage, you will want to see that it has been looked after and that there is life left in it yet!
The driving experience
Take it for a spin and see how it drives. Test the brakes and the clutch and just see how it feels to be behind the wheel!
Other costs
Think about the other costs that are going to be involved such as servicing and insurance, and factor those into the budgeting process.
We hope those tips help and if you need any guidance you know where to find us. For used cars in Leeds, come and see the team at Car Synergy!
