What fuel type is best for you?
There are a lot of things to consider when buying your next used car, and fuel type is one of them. There are, of course, petrol and diesel to choose from, but now electric and hybrid too. So how do they compare and how do you choose? Here is a rundown of each of them for you.
Petrol
Petrol cars are generally cheaper to buy and cheaper to run, which sounds like a win all around. They can also depreciate quicker and produce more C02 than diesel cars, so this may be something to factor into the equation.
Diesel
Diesel cars are more expensive to buy, to run and to insure. However, they are better for the environment and more economical to run as well, so that initial outlay may be worth the investment. Note that if something does go wrong, they can be more expensive to fix as well, as a heads up.
Hybrid
You get the benefits of both worlds and no worries on range limits, but they do require specialists to fix and maintain them, as they are quite complex cars. They are expensive to buy but much cleaner to run, plus they are sought after and tend to hold their value.
Electric
Make sure you look for a decent range and charge time with a purely electric car, but you get instant acceleration and zero emissions. Plus, if you want to go green, this is a solid choice and even though they are expensive, they really hold their value and don’t tend to depreciate much.
Choosing which kind of car is right for you will totally depend on your circumstances and what matters to you. When choosing a fuel type for your car, make sure you have made a list and taken everything into consideration, so you can make an informed decision.
